What about jersey press studs?
A Jersey press stud is a simple and safe way to add a closure to a garment! The press studs can be used for stretchable and non-stretchable fabrics. The press studs are attached to the fabric by means of 5 pins, which ensure that the press stud is very firmly attached. Therefore this press stud is ideal for making clothes for very small children. The beautiful rose colour is universal and matches almost every fabric. For strength, first reinforce the fabric with wonder dots.
Attach the button with Prym pliers or other button pliers. The size is standard, so the button will fit in many of the available attaching pliers.
